On behalf of Northern Soul and the Northern Soul Art Project’s curator Narciso Espiritu, Jr., I invite you to the opening reception for “Portraits Of Awesomeness: The Pop-Culture Art of Craig Mahoney” on Monday, October 20th at 7pm. Nearly two dozen new, original drawings and paintings celebrating my favorites from movies, music, TV, and comedy will be on display, with most being shown publicly for the first time.
All artwork will be available for purchase. In addition, there will be drink specials, free snacks, and some of the movies and music that inspired the artwork playing throughout the night. I’m also hearing a rumor that there will be cookies. No promises, though.
If you’re the type of person who enjoys promoting other people’s work (and if you are, THANKS!), here’s the link to the facebook event page and below are some promo pics for your Instagram, twitter, and facebook feeds. Feel free to tag me on instagram (@yerolepalCraiggers) or twitter (@CraigMahoney) and hashtag it #PortraitsOfAwesomeness (Is that a long hashtag? Yes. Do I have a better idea? No. We’ll just have to live with it.).
I’m running a Labor Day weekend special on a bunch of my original art and my prints. From now until Tuesday morning, you can get my Bale Batman and Reeves Superman paintings for only $100 each.
Any questions, e-mail email@example.com

Here’s some pics from this Sunday’s live NFL painting at Marty O’Brien’s in Hoboken. It’s not quite finished yet, but you can clearly see Giants receiver Victor Cruz doing his trademark salsa. This was a fun one. I’ll wrap it up today and have it up for sale right after that.
Here’s some photos of this Sunday’s Player Of The Week painting at Marty O’Brien’s in Hoboken. It is, of course, the NY Jets’ great Darrelle Revis. It’s not 100% finished yet, but will be within the next day or so. Once finished, it will be available to purchase, and will of course make a fabulous addition to any Jets’ fan’s home.
I had a really great time there this week, and got pretty distracted, by a great Giant come-from-behind win. The atmosphere there really is perfect for the games, good crowd, great (not to mention attractive) bartenders, plenty of food & beer specials, and plenty of TV’s to watch whatever game you want. I’ve really enjoyed hanging out and painting there the last two Sundays. I highly suggest you swing by one week and say hello.
There’s also a comedy show/open mic every Sunday night at 9, and I’ll usually do a few minutes of material after I wrap my painting stuff up. So, it is one of the rare places you can come see me do both my jobs.
Next week, I’m pretty sure I’ll be painting Pittsburgh’s Troy Polamalu, but I’m open for suggestions. You can suggest players to be painted by following me on twitter (@CraigMahoney) and using the hashtag #MOBPOTW.
Here are a few pics from my first Sunday doing my weekly NFL painting at Marty O’Brien’s in Hoboken. Even though the Giants weren’t playing yesterday, I had already laid out this Eli painting. So, I figured I may as well finish it up there. It’s not entirely finished yet. I still have a few details to put in. I’ll post the fully finished one tomorrow.
Jets fans will enjoy next week’s player, Darrelle Revis. That one should look pretty badass. You can follow along on my twitter account every Sunday, and suggest players for me to paint (I will have to do 17 of these) by using the hashtag #MOBPOTW.
I also highly suggest you swing by in person. Marty’s is a great bar with plenty of TVs so you can watch whatever game you want, fantastic bartenders, a great beer selection, and killer buffalo wings (which I absolutely destroyed yesterday). Marty O’Brien’s is located on the corner of 1st & Bloomfield in Hoboken.
And, yes, Eli will be up for sale.
Pretty cool news: starting this Sunday, and every Sunday this football season, I’ll be at Marty O’Brien’s in Hoboken doing a live painting of a different NFL player each week. Each painting will be available for purchase that day. I’ll be there for pretty much all 3 games each week, starting around noon. I think it’s not only a cool way for me to get my work out there and seen by more people, but will add a little extra flavor to what should already be a great time.
Marty O’Brien’s is located at 94 Bloomfield St, on the corner of 1st Ave, in Hoboken. They have the NFL Direct Ticket, about a dozen HDTVs, good food, good bartenders, a great beer selection, and now, yours truly plying his trade each week.
So, come on by, and if you have suggestions for players to paint, hit me up on twitter or facebook.
