On behalf of  Northern Soul and the Northern Soul Art Project’s curator Narciso Espiritu, Jr., I invite you to the opening reception for “Portraits Of Awesomeness: The Pop-Culture Art of Craig Mahoney” on Monday, October 20th at 7pm. Nearly two dozen new, original drawings and paintings celebrating my favorites from movies, music, TV, and comedy will be on display, with most being shown publicly for the first time.

All artwork will be available for purchase. In addition, there will be drink specials, free snacks, and some of the movies and music that inspired the artwork playing throughout the night. I’m also hearing a rumor that there will be cookies. No promises, though.

If you’re the type of person who enjoys promoting other people’s work (and if you are, THANKS!), here’s the link to the facebook event page and below are some promo pics for your Instagram, twitter, and facebook feeds. Feel free to tag me on instagram (@yerolepalCraiggers) or twitter (@CraigMahoney) and hashtag it #PortraitsOfAwesomeness (Is that a long hashtag? Yes. Do I have a better idea? No. We’ll just have to live with it.).

Halloween Comedy Video

Here’s the video of my set from the Coffee House Comedy Halloween party last Friday night at The Java Joint in Toms River. The set and material itself is pretty raw and unpolished (every bit of material is being performed for only the 1st or 2nd time). I think I need to slow down a bit and rein in some of the histrionics, but, overall, it’s still pretty decent and – HEY!  – A BIG, HAIRY MAN IN PRINCESS LEIA SLAVE GEAR.

Podcast Ep. 66 – JSRW Oktoberfest 2: Electric Beer-aloo

In the final, thrilling, drunken installment of a beer-soaked 2 part podcast, Craig & co-host Bill Coyle report from the Jersey Shore Restaurant Week Oktoberfest at The Headliner in Neptune, NJ. In part 2 Jeremy Watts, from Brewer’s Apprentice in Freehold, tells you where you can go to brew your own beer in NJ, we hear from great Jersey Shore band The Ugly Club, and say hello to Brian Ciriaco, co-founder of Point Pleasant’s East Coast Beer Co, whose Beach Haus Classic American Lager was a delicious addition to Craig and Bill’s afternoon. C & B also revel in another Yankees victory, and tell you where you’ll be spending your happy hour next Friday. *

*(Hint: It’s The Kat Shack in Matawan, NJ).
